BIO
April L. Jones, Esq. is the founder of Colorado Affordable Legal Services, LLC. The law firm was formed in 2011 to provide community members with “Access to Justice” in the form of unbundled, limited-scope legal services.
Being inspired as a 2010 graduate of the CBCC Chamber Connect Leadership program/ULFC, Ms. Jones became also motivated by her husband Floyd L. Jones, who was at that time the Membership Director of the Colorado Black Chamber of Commerce – to start her own legal practice; Colorado Affordable Legal Services (CALS) in September 2011.
“Access to legal assistance is many times the last defense against homelessness for the most vulnerable members of our community,” says attorney Jones. “As we celebrate our tenth-year anniversary in 2021, we remain committed to our belief that all families and individuals have a right to safe, decent, and affordable housing as a basic human right”.
Today CALS is a valuable community resource to those individuals who cannot afford, or otherwise lack access to legal representation by providing a variety of legal services under the Housing Eviction Legal Project (H.E.L.P). This program was designed to improve the lives of Colorado tenants by not only defending their rights, but also by providing Information, education & representation; all of which prevents homelessness for at-risk populations of the community.
