Stephan Gater, a native of Denver, Colorado, has established himself as a passionate, dedicated, community involved leader who is known throughout his community.Having love for the community in which he was raised Stephan makes it a point to give back in as many ways possible. It is important to him because he realized early on that without mentors and advice from successful individuals and family members he would not be where he is today.

Stephan tends to be active within several community organizations such as the National Community Investment Network, he is a founding member and past chair of Denver African American Philanthropist – Black men giving with a purpose (DAAP), Partnered with The Urban League Young Professionals with the Black Professional Association of Charles Schwab which he served as the Co-Chair for 7 years, Volunteers on scholarship selection committees with the Denver foundation, worked with the Colorado Beautillion which is a youth mentoring program designed to impart wholesome values and equip high school juniors and seniors with vital life skills and prepare them to be successful leaders, role models and citizens.Stephan is a proud alumnus of The Chamber Connect Leadership program, Served as a volunteer for the Junior Achievement program, sang with the national recording Colorado Movement choir, his church, Highpoint Christian Tabernacle in Atlanta, GA and also Timothy Martin and Greatness. He also is a proud member of the Nu Mu Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. located in Decatur, GA which is an organization that seeks to aid down-trodden humanity in its efforts to achieve higher social, economic and intellectual status by programs such as the Go-to-High School, Go-to-College program which provides youth with positive images of themselves and leads to their having self pride and confidence in achieving academic success. He also participates in the A voteless people is a hopeless people program that encourages minorities to focus greater attention on voter registration.

Mr. Gater holds three academic degrees including the following: Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Business Administration From Tuskegee University in Tuskegee, AL and also Bachelor of Science Degree (B.S.) in Management Science from Tuskegee University as well. He completed these two degrees while serving as a student recruiter working with the office of admissions, singing in the University Concert Choir, working as the events committee co-chair for the Tuskegee University Business and Engineering Conference, and also serving as the Chaplain and Treasurer of the Gamma Phi Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. located at Tuskegee University.Stephan also completed his MBA with an emphasis in Strategic Management at Regis University in December 2011.

Upon completion of undergrad, Stephan returned back to Denver and obtained corporate experience as a Trust Processor at Fiserv Investment Support Services and also at Charles Schwab. Stephan began working as a Mutual Fund Operations Specialist at Charles Schwab in Englewood, COin 2007 and also worked as a grant specialist working with donor advised funds in Schwab Charitable. In 2017 Stephan relocated to Atlanta, GA to work at the Boys & Girls Clubs of America national office on the corporate partnership team.

BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS OF AMERICA, Atlanta, Georgia 2017 – present

Account Strategy & Development Director

Internal account liaison leading the strategy and development for a non-profit organization delivering services to promote the development of boys, girls, and teens in an after school environment.

Management and Leadership – Comprehends and applies the diverse organizational vision and strategy to all business decisions. Leads the strategy and development of multiple national partnerships and cause marketing campaigns that directly influence revenue growth and increased brand reputation and awareness. Leverages unique skillset to increase quality of service, ROI, and customer satisfaction, resulting in the renewal of three annual multi-million dollar partnerships. Schwab Charitable, Grants Specialist

Grants Specialist responsible for processing grant recommendations to eligible public charities, ensuring the charitable goals and objectives of Schwab Charitable account holders were implemented.

Leadership and Team Building – Trained and developed new department personnel and interns. Supported initiatives to develop, refine and document claims department policies and practices. Developed strategic plan to promote adoption of claims best practices across the organization.
Grant Management and Financial Analysis – Served as relationship manager for external constituents, including funds, donors and financial advisors with $7.5 billion of assets under management. Managed due diligence, approval and decline of donor-initiated grants and disbursements for accounts ranging from $5K to $900M. Communicated Federal legislation requirements for Donor Advised Funds to donors, advisors and charities.
Compliance and Oversight – Performed compliance, auditing, and oversight tasks to ensure IRS regulatory requirements were met for the firm’s 95,650 charitable organizations. Conducted monthly audits on more than 200 checks that did not present within the 90-day expiration period.

Mutual Fund Technical Specialist

Technical Specialist responsible for a broad range of Mutual Fund Operations functions.

Mutual Fund Account Management – Coordinated new accounts as a member of the trading team. Established guidelines that helped team meet 99.75% of setup deadlines for new omnibus accounts, which resulted in 7% increase from the previous year. Functioned as a liaison between 50 fund companies; verified trade settlements, confirmed mutual fund pricing and resolved reconciliation or service level discrepancies.
Financial Analysis – Performed reconciliation and financial analysis of Schwab’s mutual fund trading books and records. Monitored daily wires ranging from $50 to $500K and transmitted to various fund companies for trade settlement. Processed and executed daily mutual fund trade orders through National Securities Clearing Corporation; managed transactions including million dollar trades with “0” errors.
Quality Assurance and Technical Analysis – Conducted quality assurance reviews on trades to ensure accuracy of transactions. Reduced financial losses associated with trade errors by 20% below historical average.Developed and maintained procedural guides for all departmental functions.

Transfer Agent responsible for customer relationship management and transfer tracking.
