Thanksgiving in July is one of our staple community service projects.
Focusing on our neighbors without homes we set out to create a day of thanksgiving, celebration, good food and positive energy.
Each year this event takes place in the Sonny Lawson Park, next to the Blair-Caldwell Library in the Five Points.
Over the years we've served more than 1500 people in our community, providing:
- Fresh barbecued meals (and meals-to-go) meats donated by Sams Meat in Aurora, CO,
- Haircuts by local barbers and stylists, a full clothing boutique, and hygiene bags.
- We partnered with the Laundry Truck to provide onsite laundry services and washed over 250 pounds of laundry!
With over 100 volunteers, we are intentional about connecting with the community. Our volunteers spend the day not only serving meals, we play basketball, dance, and engage with our people.
We are grateful to the Rocky Mountain Bank for donating all the bread, Pepsi for providing all of our beverages and to Walmart and Five Points Development for their sponsorship as well!

Volunteer for TGIJ 2020!

Where: Multiple locations throughout Denver
This year we will set up multiple small sites throughout Denver to meet the needs of our un-housed neighbors. We will drive by with backpacks filled with resources and supplies, tents and of course a good hot meal.

Have a bag sorting party!
We need help sorting and assembling over 2000 backpacks. Backpacks and supplies will be brought to your home. Also, we will bring your TGIJ shirts for you to wear as you prepare!
Bag sorters and preparers.
(2000 backpacks) / 20-40 volunteers
Responsible for filling backpacks with hygiene items at set location and time.
a. We will have 8 locations throughout the city, we will need 5-7 people at each site to distribute bags, tents and hot meals
b. Clean-up space after done dispersing
a. Drive between locations to make sure everyone has everything they need at each site.
